Posts Worth a Thousand Words

Instagram reported on September 22, 2015 it has hit 400 million monthly active users. To give you some perspective, according to Twitter’s website it has 316 million (as of June 2015).

If you haven’t already, it is time to stand up and take notice of this fast growing platform. Think about how a photo is worth 1,000 words. If you do it right, visitors will know exactly who you are and what you are about by just viewing a grid of 9 photos.

Some great small business examples by category:

Betty & June – @bettyandjune

Brewed – @brewedfw

Refit Revolution – @refitrev

Bigger Names in the Arts
Leon Bridges – @leonbridgesofficial
Omar Z. Robles – @omarzrobles

We tapped into this amazing platform in a unique way. On September 12, 2015 we held an event called #instarace15. It was like an Amazing Race/scavenger hunt where participants had to post a photo at every stop.

It was a huge success and all the participants had a ton of fun! The businesses were grateful to have so much foot traffic and so many posts being seen by locals. Participants said they would visit at least one of the locations again after the race.

We will hold this event again next year and it will be called #instarace16.

Think about ways you can get your followers involved in the fun. Create your own hashtag or challenge. Host an event and offer a freebie (pen, fan, sunglasses, etc) for people who post a photo to their Instagram account.

Whatever you do, get on board. Because this train has already left the station and is going places! If you’re interested in Instagram advertising you can check out their case studies to see if it would be a good fit for you.
